I was recently in Visakhapatnam, and frankly, I was surprised how everything is coming to life there. The locals were talking about plans to open floating casinos and develop tourism in the Bay of Bengal. This should give boost to the economy, but I don’t really understand how this works in practice. Has anyone encountered something similar or seen how such projects affect cities?

Sometimes I'm surprised how quickly coastal areas can change. Just couple of years ago I was in a place that was considered backwater, and now there are scooter rentals, excursions and new hotels on every corner. It's as if everything changed overnight. It seems that when movement towards tourism begins, some kind of internal wave of renewal is immediately launched.
There was a similar case when I went to Goa a couple of years ago. Then, they also discussed the topic of floating casinos and coastal development. It really worked there - more jobs appeared, cafes and hotels began to open. But most importantly, there was a feeling that the city had new energy. I found an article that talks in detail about the possibilities of the region and how all this can be implemented: https://amrajani.com/bay-of-bengal-casino-tourism-economic-potential/. There's lot about infrastructure and how it affects the economy. I think if everything is done correctly, it will definitely be useful.
